Life-long Mentoring & Relationship Programmes
Home Visits
Home Visits are foundational to Key of Hope’s ultimate vision of life-long mentoring and discipleship. Each child involved in our programmes is visited by one of our caring adult staff every week, giving us the opportunity to assess basic needs and provide spiritual counsel and prayer.
Youth Night
Our Youth program happens every Friday where we reach youth from the communities that we visit and bring them to Key of Hope for discipleship. Weekends are a very chaotic time in the areas where our youth live, so we take them away from that environment and fill them spiritually.
Kidz Klub
The Saturday “Kidz Klub” is our main gathering and serves as a gateway to our other programs. The exciting mix of games, singing, prizes, puppets, and Bible teaching, attracts hundreds of children, often providing our first contact with a child. Every week we host around 1,500 children, most of whom we visited that week at home in their communities.
M&M Night
M&M's stands for two milestones in a young adult's life: matric and marriage. Our M&M's program focuses on 18-25 year olds in this crucial stage of life, helping them develop a variety of life skills including college prep, career guidance, basic job skills and spiritual growth.
Social and Educational Aid Programmes
Feeding Programme
Our Feeding Program provides monthly food parcels to hundreds of children and their families that will last them through the entire month.
Hope Academy
Hope Academy identifies children who may be struggling in school and assists them academically with basic English, simple Math, classroom etiquette and speaking skills so that they are more than prepared for the school environment.
Family Rights
Our Family Rights program provides assistance in obtaining child support grants and orphan grants. We also assist in acquiring identification documents – including birth certificates - which are necessary to enroll in school.
Study Hall
Our Study Hall programme every Tuesday provides a quiet study environment where our high school students have access to computers, the internet, school supplies and a quiet environment to study and work on projects so that they can excel in school.
Creative Arts Programmes
Junior Choir
Junior choir our young singers, ages 8-12, a family and prepares them for Senior Choir so that when they are old enough to graduate, they already have an understanding of music and how a choir operates.
Key of Hope Choir
The Key of Hope Choir is a chance for our youth to express themselves to God and to the world through music, song, and dance. The choir has performed at churches and events across Durban. Contact us if you are interested in hosting the choir.
Dance Team
Dance is a big part of South African culture, and so we incorporate it into many of our programs. The dance team consists of youth who are dedicated to our programs and show dancing abilities. They are selected to lead and perform dances for the children.
Ithemba Worship
Key of Hope has a worship group for young adults, most of whom used to be in the choir, but are now too old to participate. They don’t just sing - they play the drums, keyboard and guitar - and they learn to use these instruments for God.
